12-Year-Old Boy Hailed as Hero For Comes To Rescue Of An Infant Trapped In A Hot Car By Breaking Windshield
A 12-year-old boy is being considered a hero after he smashed the windscreen of a car to save a child who was trapped inside on one of the hottest days of the year in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
That was after he and his mother found a crying toddler trapped in the back seat of a car in a shopping centre in scorching heat.
The 12-year-old and his mother entered a shop when they heard the baby crying inside a car, looked inside and saw the car locked and the child trapped inside. The heat index for the day was 116 degrees according to Fox 23, so the boy and his mother did not think twice about breaking into the car to save the child.
He grabbed a metal strap and used it to start smashing the car window, eventually moving to the windscreen where he was able to make bigger cracks. He was able to step on the windscreen some more before he was able to get inside to unlock the car and free the baby.
Fortunately, the baby was examined by paramedics and appeared to be fine.
Police entered the scene and found the child’s mother inside the shoe store where they issued her a fine, they decided not to arrest her for child neglect.
His mother shared photos of the broken windscreen in the car after the situation on social media writing, “This is what happens when you leave a baby inside a locked car with the windows rolled up.”
As for the 12-year-old, he says: “I didn’t think any of this was going to happen, I just thought I was going to meet Ross to get some shoes.”
