Forever is a long time. However, when you find the right partner, that’s exactly how long you want to be in love together.
A study in the Journal of Social, Psychological and Personality Science showed that out of 274 couples who were married for more than 10 years, over 45% reported that they were still ‘very intensely in love’ with their partner.
So how do you know if your love will last? Here’s a list of 9 things to look for in your partner to know if you’ll be together long term.
1. They want to spend time with you
A partner who loves you forever will find time to be with you. No matter how busy their agenda is or how exhausted they are, they will always make time for the people who matter the most.
If they are more than thrilled to invest some quality time into your relationship, that means that they care about you.
2. They always ask about your day
Communication is the ultimate key to a loving and thriving relationship. So, when a partner behaves indifferently and avoids talking to their partner, that is a serious sign that the relationship has taken its wrong turn. Yet, when they show interest in their partner’s life and wants to communicate with their lover on a daily basis, it means that they care.
3. They trust you
A partner who doesn’t show signs of extreme, irrational jealousy, doesn’t interrogate you, or snoop through your personal belongings, is a partner who trusts you unconditionally.
That doesn’t mean that they don’t want to know what you’ve been doing. It means that they care for you and respect you too much to actually violate your privacy.
4. They support you
If your lover encourages your work, motivates you to never give up and inspires you to pursue all of your dreams, they’re on your team and they love you more than words can say. Do not doubt that. Not even for a second.
5. They respect you
Maybe you think that for one relationship to survive and thrive, both partners need to be on the same exact page about everything. Well… I would say almost. Why?
I know for a fact that you can be on completely different ends of a spectrum and still live happily ever after. You can have many opposing opinions and still respect each other. And that, if you ask me, is the mark of true, genuine love.
6. They include you in every part of their life
When your partner becomes intimate, they start to see you with different eyes. All of a sudden, you’re not just their girlfriend/boyfriend. You are much more than that. You are their entire universe.
They start to plan their future with you, and they start to include you in every part of their life. Everything makes more sense because you are there.
7. They are willing to go out of their way for you
If your partner goes out of their way to make your relationship a healthy, careless and loving place, that means that they genuinely love you and want to spend their life with you. If they are willing to risk something for you, that means that their number one priority is loving you.
