Many people would be surprised to find that Henry Winkler and his wife rarely saw each other again after their initial encounter in a clothing store, despite having three children and a committed 44-year marriage.
Henry Winkler’s role of Arthur Fonzarelli on “Happy Days” is undoubtedly his most well-known performance, but he should also be recognized for his love marriage to Stacey. It’s hard to imagine the couple almost didn’t go on their first date.
The majority of people are aware with Henry Winkler because of the great roles he has portrayed over the course of his long career. Winkler is most remembered for her role as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli in the television sitcom “Happy Days,” which is still frequently referenced in modern society.
When Stacey and Henry first met, they were both working at a clothing boutique that Stacey’s agency represented. Henry enlisted Stacey’s help while looking for a sport coat, and the rest is history.
Henry recalled their initial encounter: “She was wearing purple parachute trousers and had red hair, and I didn’t even hear her say a word before I thought, ‘Woah, beautiful woman standing in front of me.’” The following week, when I returned to the shop, she was still there. And in just ten minutes, I discovered just how resilient she is.
A week later, when Henry went back to the same store to get his coat, Stacey almost declined his invitation to go on a date. She eventually accepted, of course, and before they knew it, they were dating.
Stacey and her four-year-old son moved in with Henry shortly before the couple decided to marry in 1978.
After marrying in the Manhattan synagogue where Winkler had his bar mitzvah, the couple had to deal with Henry’s burgeoning popularity. Stacey constantly dealt with the overwhelming amount of female attention he began to receive.
Stacey said that even after they married, ladies continued to approach their husband. Knowing that the attention was ideal for his vocation, she explained that she simply had to learn to live with it.
People would literally step over my feet as they rushed up to Henry, she even said. You just absolutely wrecked my stockings, I exclaimed once. And this lady responded, “But I adore Fonzie!”
Female fans were not a major concern to the pair compared to upcoming challenges.
In 1980, Henry and Stacey welcomed their daughters Zoey and Max, and they coexisted for many years with their offspring and careers.
Henry has become highly involved in breast cancer awareness in support of his dedicated wife. Winkler was invited to appear as a guest speaker at the 13th annual ‘In The Pink of Health’ Luncheon, one of several events hosted by the organization to raise funds for breast cancer patients and their families.
Henry had been helping people with cancer even before Stacey was diagnosed, attending an all-star basketball game in 1976 to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Henry and his wife have been able to maintain a long and happy marriage by demonstrating mutual support and respect. Despite their insistence that other elements contribute to their happy marriage, they do not conceal their love.
Henry seemed surprised when James Corden presented him with a photo from his and Stacey’s wedding day on the James Corden show. Winkler commented that Stacey is still as beautiful today as she was on the day of their wedding.
Henry is not the only one who has publicly expressed their affection. She routinely utilizes social media posts and photographs to show her support for her still-busy hubby.
Despite the fact that 44 years of marriage are never simple, the couple has frequently been candid about collaborating to meet life’s problems.
It does require effort. There are bumps in the road and you get a little out of whack, but if you have the skill and the perseverance based on love, then your friendship and your relationship only gets better,” Stacey once told People.
