For a woman, the moment her dad walks her down the aisle is highly significant and happens only once in a lifetime. For her wedding, Rob’s daughter Jess chose her stepfather for this special moment, breaking his heart. What happened next was even more unexpected. Feeling lost and distressed, Rob asked us to give him an advice.
Here is what Rob shared
My 23-year-old daughter, Jess, is getting married, and as her dad, I wanted to pay for the wedding. She told me that her stepdad of 13 years would be walking her down the aisle, saying, “He’s the one who raised me while you were working.” I called her “ungrateful” and told her that I worked to provide for her, but if this is what she wants, then I won’t pay for the wedding.
The next day, she called me and said, “Well, Dad, if you cannot control your jealousy, then with a sad heart, I think it is best if you don’t show up at my wedding. We will manage without your money, even though it will be a much smaller event than planned.”
Later, her stepdad knocked at my door. With a big smile, he said, “You see, you will never break the bond I share with Jess. Being a father is not about the money you give; it’s about the time you spend with your children.”
I am deeply offended by my daughter’s actions. If this is what she wants, then maybe it’s better I am not in her life at all.
Am I wrong to think this way?
