Retired woman loses an envelope containing money for shopping, but the next day someone gives it back to her
It doesn’t happen every day that you find a wallet or money laying in the street, but when it does happen, you are always faced with a great temptation: pocket the money. Of course, there is nothing that could be more wrong to do, as the money belongs to someone who simply had the misfortune of accidentally losing it. Thankfully, the world is still full of good people.
Randi Axelrad, a retired school counsellor, had lost an envelope containing $ 70 – a reimbursement for the grocery shopping she had evidently already paid to someone. The envelope had fallen as the woman walked through a park and, fortunately, remained unnoticed until the next morning an honest person, Kim DeRosa, picked it up.
Kim DeRosa, of Westfield, found the cash Friday morning and posted to the Westfield, NJ Facebook group that she would like to return it to the owner.
TAPinto Westfield wrote about it and after seeing the story in the news website’s email news Saturday morning, Axelrad reached out to this reporter, who put her in touch with DeRosa.
“She kindly put my envelope in another one with my name on it. I opened her envelope and then mine,” Axelrad wrote back. “I offered her a monetary reward of appreciation for finding and reporting my lost money, but she refused to accept it. I was and still am filled with tears of joy for her good deed.
“Again, I thank you and Kim for solving my mystery. I still believe that there is good in the world. This was proof!”
When we hear this type of news it is truly impossible not to regain some faith in humanity!
