Whether at home or office, maybe anyone wants hot food. And oven is used to heat the food very quickly. But do you know your oven can also be not good for your health if you don’t use it properly. According to experts, food should not be heated again and again. You should always try to have fresh food. By repeatedly heating the food, the number of bacteria starts increasing in it, due to which the food becomes toxic and in the case of oven, the risk increases. Here we are going to tell you about such food which you should not heat in the oven even by mistake.
1. Egg
If you are fond of eating eggs and you do not like cold eggs, due to which you reheat them, do not do this, it can prove to be harmful to your health. By heating the egg in the oven, bacteria grow rapidly in it and your stomach can get upset.
2. Chicken
If you are also a lover of eating chicken, then you should keep in mind that you should not heat the chicken in the oven and eat it again. Many people make chicken in large quantities and keep it overnight and reheat it the next day in the morning and during the day. According to the reports, it is absolutely wrong to do so. You are consuming poison because of your hobby of eating hot chicken. By heating chicken, the protein present in it turns into toxic. Due to which you can get food poisoning. If you do not want to throw the chicken, then you can heat it on low flame.
3. Leafy greens
If you want to save your celery, kale, or spinach to eat later as leftovers, plan to reheat them in a conventional oven rather than a microwave. When blasted in the microwave, naturally occurring nitrates (which are very good for you on their own) may convert to nitrosamines, which can be carcinogenic, studies show. The same holds true for reheating nitrate-rich beets and turnips! Good thing they’re just as delicious cold.
4. Leftover Potatoes
Don’t worry, you can still speed-cook your spuds in the microwave. But if you decide to reheat them later, take steps to keep them from becoming dangerous. Potatoes often house Clostridium botulinum, the botulism bacteria. When they’re cooked and not immediately stored in the fridge, spores of the bacteria can multiply.6 Microwaving the potatoes won’t kill the bacteria either, so your second-day potatoes could cause an upset stomach.
How to heat: Move cooked potatoes that won’t be eaten into the fridge as quickly as possible. Don’t let them sit at room temperature for hours on end. Reheat in the oven. A general note: Don’t bake potatoes in an aluminum foil jacket. According to research, the tin catches moisture and accelerates spore growth in the warm, moist environment.7 For a crispier potato skin—and for the sake of your tummy—bake potatoes without the foil jacket.
5. Tomato Sauce
Heating tomato sauces in the microwave often ends in splatters. The heat and steam produced by the sauce when warmed has a difficult time escaping through the thick sauce or around pieces of ingredients. The steam builds up until it’s powerful enough to burst through—and onto the microwave walls. In some cases, the sauce can even explode when you stir it, which could lead to burns and certainly stained clothes.
How to heat: Heat any sauces in a small pan on the stove. This will allow even heating, and you can stir easily to prevent steam buildup.
