The recall notice covers both the 25g and 100g sizes of the dip.
Domino’s Pizza has been forced to discontinue two of its popular dips due to allergy concerns.
No Domino’s takeaway is complete without dipping a piece in their famous sauce. Most of us will be fans of the classic Garlic & Herb dip, which is virtually as well-known as the brand and is served free with every pizza. Others may want to drizzle their slices with more modest flavors like Honey & Mustard, BBQ, or Red Hot.
However, the pizza company has recalled its Garlic & Herb and Honey & Mustard dips due to worries about allergen contamination.
Concerns were raised over the weekend after a consumer posted a screenshot of an email she received from Domino’s about the recall on social media, adding that she had experienced a ‘itchy mouth’ earlier in the week after eating one of the dips.
“Hi @Dominos_UK, please say you’re going to shout about this on social media as well as burying this in people’s emails,” the user wrote on X, alongside a screenshot of the email.
“I was wondering why I had an itchy mouth and felt sick after dipping my pizza in one of these last week, and other people’s allergies aren’t as mild as mine.”
It’s unknown how many consumers received the email informing them that the pizza business was aware ‘that some of our Garlic and Herb dip and Honey and Mustard dip may contain traces of peanut.’
The email then asked anyone with a peanut allergy to immediately discard the 100g Big Dip pots and smaller 25g pots that come with pizzas.
A spokesperson for Dominos told: “At the weekend, we discovered that some batches of Domino’s Pizza Garlic & Herb and Honey & Mustard dips contained traces of peanut which could pose a risk for people with peanut allergies.
“We have withdrawn all these dips from sale, and ask any customers who have people in their household with peanut allergies not to consume and instead dispose of any of these dips that they have at home.”
The statement added: “Domino’s takes food safety very seriously and we are working urgently with our supplier to understand how this happened and ensure it doesn’t happen again.
“There will be disruption to the supply of dips in the coming days while we wait for new supplies to arrive and appreciate customers’ understanding during this time.”
