While for some, Mercury retrograde is a means of justification for bad behavior or bad things happening, others find astrology to be a questionable source. Either way, the occurrence is real, and seemingly impacts numerous aspects of life.
Mercury retrograde happens 3-4 times a year when the planet slows down, creating the illusion that it’s moving backward across the sky. This time around, several people have reported an increase in feelings of angst, anxiety, or “chaos.” Beginning March 25th, after a lunar eclipse, many people noticed a significant shift in their energy and all the little things going wrong.
Embracing the Eclipse
The lunar eclipse was a penumbral lunar eclipse, occuring when the moon moves through the earth’s faint outer shadow – called the penumbra.
“Penumbral lunar eclipses can only occur during a full moon and can be subtle and often visually difficult to distinguish,” explained Psychic astrologer Rose Smith. “But this doesn’t matter as it affects everybody spiritually anyway even if you don’t notice anything much physically happening. It’s a great time to tap into this side of life. Lunar eclipses relate to the feminine, so it will be a time for ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.“
Mercury Retrograde Warnings
“Everyone needs to take a breath and be extra vigilant with their communications to significant others. This eclipse season is all about self-priorities and independence versus compromise and relationship responsibilities,” says Ms. Smith. “It’s time to look and see if there are any worms eating away at your relationship? This cosmic shakeup in the love zone is intensified by the lunar eclipse.” She also explained that more people might also be noticing their desire to “beautify their surroundings”.
“It’s a good time on the home front to renovate or focus on interior decorating.” She noted, warning people not to overspend. “Again, this work will peak because of the lunar eclipse – so when it comes to renovations, they may reach a climax and you will want to get most done at the time of the full moon, but this could also cause frustration if you are hindered in your goals.
An Upside to Consider
There’s some good news for those astrology lovers who attribute the mis happenings to be the result of Mercury retrograde. Although Mercury retrograde will continue until April 24, there’s expected to be a little relief around April 8th. Subsequently, astrologer Natasha Weber has pointed out some good to be found during the Mercury retrograde. Australia’s top astrologer, who goes by Astrotash on Instagram, explains these challenges will align with “the potential for unexpected turns, shocks and growth”. Stating that in moments of adversity people are “propelled” into “what’s already written in the stars.” She encourages others to be open to changes and embrace the “new season’s storyline”.
Mercury Retrograde Sparks Debate
Astrology is a bit of a controversial subject because some swear by it. Whereas others struggle to grasp any validity. And still, there are some who don’t know anything about astrology or why the Mercury retrograde would have an impact in the way it’s believed to. According to Britannica, astrology is a “type of divination that involves the forecasting of earthly and human events through the observation and interpretation of the fixed stars, the Sun, the Moon, and the planets.” Essentially, everything that is, was, and will be, has already been mapped out and decided.
For those who believe or are interested in what the stars may have to say, this Mercury retrograde is a time to let go old habits or toxic relationships. Embrace changes, big or small. Alternatively, remember it’s still a time for possible chaos so take a step back before reacting to situations and reevaluate all the angles.
