Mom Breaks Down In McDonalds Drive-Through As 5-Year-Old αutístíc Daughter Says Her First Word

In 2018, Briana Blankenship shared a video of her 5-year-old daughter Taylor, who has αutísm, saying her very first word. In the short but completely heartfelt video, Briana asks her daughter Taylor to say “mama” while at the drive-through, and for the first time, she speaks.

This is a momentous occasion because early in her life, doctors diagnosed Taylor with a form of αutísm known as “nonverbal”. Basically, this means that she cannot communicate through speech. She could understand bits and pieces of English, but there was never any question of her finding her own words.

That changed one day at a McDonald’s drive-through.

Taylor gave her mother the surprise of her life during a drive-through at a McDonald’s.

Briana Blankenship shared the video of her daughter, Taylor, saying the word “mama” for the first time.

With Taylor’s sudden verbal outburst, Briana rushed to capture the moment. She grabbed the phone despite her tears and began recording. She wanted proof of what had just happened, no matter how long it took.

“As soon as she said it I grabbed my phone and started recording. I’m pretty sure I held up the drive-thru line but there was no way I wasn’t getting proof of this.

I can’t explain how unbelievably grateful and ecstatic I am right now.”

“I am ugly crying in the McDonald’s parking lot and the employees probably think I’m crazy. In the drive-thru, I suddenly heard Taylor say ‘MAMA.’

In the video, it’s clear that Briana can barely contain herself when she hears her daughter’s voice.

Every time she manages to get Taylor to speak again, we hear Briana squeal with joy and excitement. Her happiness is so contagious that Taylor starts smiling too, just happy to be able to make her mother so happy.

Briana uploaded the video to Facebook, where she tagged her family. Quickly, not only her family but many others saw the video, which was widely shared on the platform.

For Briana, this occasion marked an event that she thought was impossible to achieve. Not only is this a great achievement for Taylor, but it also makes the idea that she can learn more words and be able to communicate through speech in the future possible.
