In a candid and emotional interview, Prince Harry opened up about his growing concerns for his children’s future, admitting that his greatest fears have come true.
He revealed that the U.K.’s decision to strip him of official security protections has made it “impossible” for him to safely return to Britain with his wife, Meghan, and their children, Archie and Lilibet. The Duke of Sussex expressed how deeply this ruling has impacted him, not only on a personal level but also in terms of its broader implications for the Royal Family.
After stepping back from royal duties and relocating to the U.S. in 2020, Harry lost access to police protection, a decision upheld by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec). Despite hiring private security, he emphasized that such teams cannot access essential U.K. intelligence needed to ensure his family’s safety.
Speaking to Sky, Harry stated, “I can only come to the U.K. safely if I am invited, and there is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” suggesting that King Charles III holds influence over whether he can return securely. He added that resolution lies not in intervention, but in allowing security experts to handle the matter appropriately.
Harry criticized the government’s stance as an “old-fashioned establishment stitch-up,” blaming both past and current administrations for maintaining the policy. He warned of the precedent being set, where security could be used as leverage over royal family members.
Beyond security concerns, Harry voiced a strong desire to mend ties with his family, particularly with his father. “I would love reconciliation with my family,” he said. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore… I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
However, he also shared the painful reality that his attempts to reach out have been met with silence. According to sources, his letters and calls have gone largely unanswered, with the relationship reportedly strained and distant.
In a heartfelt closing moment, Harry revealed his deepest concern: “I don’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.” He fears Archie and Lilibet may grow up disconnected from their British roots and royal legacy.
