Trump’s decision has been heavily criticized by some
The US President has canceled Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection as the former vice president prepares for a US book tour.
A letter announcing that Harris has had her protection revoked reads: “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”
A senior advisor to Harris confirmed the news to NBC News, saying: “The vice president is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”
Vice presidents typically receive a six-month security guarantee from the Secret Service after leaving office, even though Joe Biden extended this to a year, according to reports.
It’s not just Harris who has seen her Secret Service protection revoked, with former national security adviser John Bolton also seeing the privilege ended.

Back in March, the Republican president revoked protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden, the children of the 46th POTUS.
Harris, who of course lost the 2024 presidential election to Trump, is soon to embark on a tour across the US for her memoir, ‘107 Days’.
The book is set to release in September, while Harris will visit many states to advertise the novel that looks into her short presidential election campaign last year.
The former vice president has been openly critical of the POTUS since he took office for a second term in January.
She has previously suggested the White House is contributing to a ‘sense of fear’.
“What has changed is that there is a sense of fear that has been taking hold in our country, and I understand it,” the Democrat politician said.

“But we’re seeing people stay quiet. We are seeing organizations stay quiet. We are seeing those who are capitulating to clearly unconstitutional threats, and these are the things that we are witnessing each day in these last few months in our country.”
Harris wenton to say: “When one person, when a few stand with the courage, that is the courage exhibited by the leaders in this room every day.
“To have the courage to say I feel fear, the courage to say what is happening is wrong, the courage to say that there is a way that we must chart to get through this.
“Understanding our power in the democracy that we still have if we hold on to it.
“Courage is contagious.”
